for legworks first outing, we ve recruited a seminal techno-soul producer from dallas, texas, who prefers to stay in the shadows, remaining nameless(ish). that said, anyone who s serious about detroit techno know s his work on matrix, down low, and most receintly delsin.

1. crom & thanh - these walls feat. ann saunderson the partnership of andre crom & chi thanh has already proven to be extremely productive, with a number of chartstorming originals and remixes.

some low down, dirty cosmic boogie-funk here from 1977 on salsoul records. destroyers were a one off project from nyc whose back catalog includes only these 2 super rare and sublime examples of down-tempo space disco. both cuts are the perfect late night soundtrack to getting down in the darkest corners of the club, perfectly produced, super funky and with solid relentless grooves that go on and on.

greco-romance. it has often been said that the early underground parties thrown by the greco-roman artist collective, party and record label were romantic affairs. maybe it was the punch, maybe it was the music, but love was certainly in the air. and so the third solo ep from hot chips joe goddard picks up where last summers ep *taking over*s love affair with club basements left off.

love club was an obscure one off project fronted by jay -mixin- dixon, a dj with a long history at nycs kiss fm where he played deep house and garage on the stations legendary master-mix show in the early 90s. the record also features a mystery, uncredited female vocalist assisted by some top shelf studio personnel manning the boards.

love sexy records bossman dj raw sugar dishes up another fine selection of his own gear for the label s second release. this one kicks off with the vibrantly smooth and smoothly vibrant eins zwei disco, a bouncy portion of future movement built upon a rubbery, logical bassline.

*head off, heart on* is next to go. this ep of our artist juzz contains two brand new tunes, both revealing in depth sight on the producers perception. *i felt a deep urge to get rid of all my conceptual influences regarding the way of creating my music. almost like a purifying force that guided me back to the roots of expressing my emotions through music- says the long time producer and dj. constantly being surrounded by music got me more and more into a repetitive workflow. remembering the freedom and innocence of my first attempts in the studio led to this sole conclusion: turn your head off and your heart on.* and the result speaks for itself: highly emotional music wrapped in functional arrangements, aiming to move your soul. accompanied by two astonishing remixes from markus homm and dreksler & haerle, who both got only one demand: head off, heart on.

though the iconic imagery of disco feels distinctly tied to the united states, the style had a wide-reaching influence that made it’s way to africa. while africa was already no stranger to the pulsing rhythms of funk, afro-beat, and highlife, the rise of disco added a slick sheen to the music, with musicians from all over the continent incorporating elements of the genre into their sounds. would there ever have been a studio 54 in ghana in late 70s, these would have been the recordings that would have packed the dance floor with their deep root in disco, soul & funk! an album recorded in the late 70s packed full of legendary musicians such as harry mosco and many more… to be re-discovered 35 years after it’s initial vinyl release as a private press. a “disco documentary full of funk” proves that it stands the test of time by sounding as fresh and original as any other sought-after disco / soul funk lp from the west coast of africa in the late 70s. bbe went on another crate-digging journey and found the original producer reindorf nana oppong and the original master tapes were dusted off, transferred to digital. in the process of this, even un-released material was discovered on the tapes, which makes this a rather special package. “nana love - disco documentary full of funk” is one special journey through afro disco & boogie in the late 70s, and we at bbe can guarantee that you won’t be disappointed!!!

back in february 2013, shortly after their impressive first release as a label, music is love launched a double va entitled lovebox: an 8 track double-vinyl release that included tracks from 8 talented up-and-coming producers on their roster. by innovatively previewing the producers in this way, the label laid the foundations for what listeners could expect for each artists subsequent eps. the artists who released on it were not hyped up flavours of the month, but rather emerging talents who sat perfectly with the labels musical ethos - quality and original underground house with a contemporary, dynamic feel. since the va, the label have gone from strength to strength and have firmly established themselves as one of the most brightest house labels around in the uk.

dj raw sugar is a native of berlin, but has done a 6 year stint in new zealand and now resides in perth. his productions are deep and raw house beats mixed with jazz, boogie, disco, funk and soul. over the years he has put out music via other peoples labels like gazeebo international, midnight riot and ism, but is now taking matters into his own hands via love sexy records - a label he has just started. the debut release kicks off with a piece from the man himself! it s a sweet and sultry slice of disco. inkswel, also australian based, takes up remix duty taking the track in a more club-ready direction. slow goodness all over!

fantastic reissue of paradises deep grooves seminal * i love ep* produced by nelson * paradise* roman. originally released back in 91, this is one of the true holy grails of deep house. kicking things off is the incredible deep hypnotic groove of * i love*, which became a nyc sound factory classic in the hands of junior vasquez as well as receiving heavy rotation on the underground house scene. the next two tracks * hypnotic flute* and * trance dance* are both excellent but the other really outstanding track is the deep floating * inner mind* with its lush haunting synths and intricate rhythms. top quality house music at its best!

hailing from sunny los angeles, plastic love records kicks off our first release with an ep from label co-boss jimmy maheras. maheras made his debut in 2011 with his space jam ep on the crosstown rebels edit sub-label, rebellion. since then he s released remixes and singles on strainjjur, riff raff, supernature, and left d. maheras s two original tracks showcase his depth with the man from another place being squarely aimed at the big room dance floor and the second track, arecibo, bringing a little kraftwerkesque funk. we ve commissioned timothy j fairplay (crimes of the future) and cottam (aus music / ruff draft) for two very unique remixes. fairplay crunches down the original melody and throws it over the famed amen break to give tmfap a hands in air late night feel while cottam s remix brings the dreamy melody closer to acid with storming late night kick ready to knock down a wall.

time to welcome more new, undiscovered talent to the fold, this time we give you sheffield producer thatmanmonkz with an amazing ep entitled please dont slip, trip or fall off. thatmanmonkz came to our attention last year when his track that would be alright appeared on tone control music. the low slung, bluesy inflections combined with moodymann-esqe vocals and deep pads had us instantly hooked so when he presented us with three brand new tracks for delusions of grandeur we literally bit his hand off.

delft 002 welcomes another new name to the fold: it s been four long years since the last officially released original jpls material but the wait was worth it, with the producer making his delft debut with fall off distance , an acid techno nuclear weapon that s been causing panic when dropped on isolated testing sites thus far. label boss la-4a subtly reshapes the original into a more streamlined techno monument on the b1, while longtime jpls fans will be pleased to discover the producer at his weird & sinister best with the b2, remove

after a brief hiatus church are back with a debut offering of original material from apes. the a side *two thousand six* is a straight up techno work out, having been tried and tested this track is aimed directly at the dance floor. chaos in the cbd are on board for the remix taking us on a journey of warm, deep, subtle analogue house fresh off the back of their stand out track *78 to stanley bay*. the b side *cold love* goes some way to show apes’ versatility as a producer, it’s a nostalgic piece of work, with a pulsating bass-line driving through the track along with intricate percussion and a choice vocal sample to round things off. cold love is equally suited for the club or for home listening. apes right hand man seb wildblood takes the track in a slightly different direction, using elements of the percussion and transforming the vocal sample for a delightful melodic contribution to the ep. early support from paul woolford, breach, ben pearce, dusky, alexander nut & more.

maricopa returns to back to the balearics to complete his stunning opus, pastel love. and he continues where he left off building deeply textured songs packed full of simple melodies that really shine. his music opts for subtle feelings and passing vibes over the more obvious structures of dance music. the release of part one led to a number of comparisons with the early work of aphex twin as well as more contemporary producers such as four tet. such comparisons dont come lightly, but pastel love demonstrates that a rare musical talent has arrived. the release again has beautiful printed covers and looks as good as it sounds. viva maricopa!
